Kayak with Manatee Adventures (3 hour tour)
We offer a variety of kayak tours, but if you are looking to kayak amongst the majestic manatees, this is the best area in Southwest Florida to do it. (For the true Everglades freshwater experience, however, check out our 2 and 3 hour Mangrove Tunnel Tours on the Turner ). This trip offers solitude from other companies as there is only one other company that does this unique Naples Kayak Tour and paddling near manatees is truly special sight. On this adventure we paddle through a sawgrass prairie, mangrove tunnels, and small open lakes on our search for wildlife, hoping to see wading birds feeding on fish, alligators basking in the sun, and the elusive manatee.
We do want to mention that this trip is different from our Turner River Everglades trips in a few ways. First of all, the wildlife is not as predictable and there tends to be slightly less biodiversity. Secondly, there are tides and winds that can make the paddling require more energy than our Turner River mangrove tunnel tours. You will not see the alligators anywhere but in the canals on this trip by the houses. Finally, the end of the tour will take us to a small, quaint neighborhood canal in Port of the Islands. This is the place where we (as well as other companies) see the manatees. They love to bask in the warmer water here durning the winter months.
That being said, this tour is very unique and very beautiful. If you are looking for solitude over amount of wildlife.***This tour is not for everyone and our most highly recommended trip and guests favorite for the last 19 years is our 2 or 3 hr Everglades Mangrove Tunnel Tour on the Turner River. Our Mangrove Tunnel Tour on the Turner offers the best chance to see true Everglades and its wildlife in a natural setting, as we cannot guarantee the presence of manatees or alligators on our “Kayak with Manatees Adventures”. On our Mangrove Tunnel tours we always see an abundance of wildlife, there is more biodiversity with both freshwater and brackish water ecosystems to paddle through, and the paddling is easier as there are no tides.
