Our award winning mangrove tunnel kayak tour is the best way to see the “Real Everglades” with the smallest group tour size in the area. Our group size is only 1 guide to 8 guests. Our mangrove tunnel trip goes out daily, as it is sheltered from the winter season winds and is not dependent on tides. Our Sunset Mangrove Tunnel Adventures are an amazing way to experience the Everglades as the day comes to a close in a spectacular fashion . We paddle through mesmerizing mangrove tunnels, keeping our eyes open for ospreys diving for their last meal of the night, alligators getting their last sun for the day, wading birds hunting, and birds flying back to their roost; all as the sun slowly melts into the mangroves.

Join us on our small group size kayak and motorboat combo tour as we experience the freshwater and saltwater ecosystems of the Everglades all in one day! This trip consists of a 3 hour kayaking mangrove tunnel tour provided by us “Shurr Adventures” at 8:30 or 1:30 and combined with either a 2 hour or 3 hour 10,000 Islands motorboat eco-tour with the Smallwood Store Boat Tours Company. Their motor boat tour begins at the historic Smallwood Store. This combo tour is a great way to gain a deeper understanding of the Everglades ecosystem as a whole, as you will get to experience both its fresh and saltwater components. All this whilst searching for alligators sunning, dolphins hunting, fish jumping, wading birds feeding, manatees coming up for a breath, and much more.

Our company is proud to say that we pioneered this tour 15 years ago, by taking our friends out to see both ecosystems in one day. Not only does it give your arms a rest from kayaking all day, but it also gives you a break in the day to explore our quaint little town of Everglades City. Personally, we recommend paddling amongst the mangroves in the morning on the 8:30 trip and cruising the 10,000 Islands on our motorboat tour 2 hours before sunset, as this is the best arrangement for wildlife viewing. The other great trip is to table the 10:00 a.m. motor boat eco tour and then a 2 pm or sunset mangrove tunnel trip. Our Original combo tour really is the best way to see the best spots in the Everglades, all in one day.

This tour starts at the Historic Smallwood Store in Chokoloskee and is the closest gateway to Everglades National Park. On this breathtaking trip with the Small Wood Store Boat Tours our guest, will be traveling through the maze of mangrove islands of the Everglades, whilst looking for dolphins, manatees, and an incredible variety of wading birds. Your captain, a U.S.C.G. Licensed captain, and Florida native, has a deep understanding of Everglades, history, and culture. This is a great adventure for people who are looking to see the unique saltwater ecosystem of the Everglades and its 10,000 islands.  Want to make a day of the Everglades and have the chance to see both Alligators and Dolphins? When the tides and winds are right, a sunrise trip on the waters of the Everglades National Park 10,000 islands is amazing!  As day starts to break and the colors come to light, we will watch birds as they wake up from the roost, dolphins searching for food, wading birds getting their breakfast, sea turtles coming up for a breath and the sun popping up over the mangroves. We will start our trip from the Historical Smallwood store where the Native Americans used to sleep on the beach. As we head out into the bay, your certified master naturalist guide will show our guests the 10,000 island ecosystem and the history that surrounds this amazing area that most kayakers don’t get to paddle. Our Full day 10,000 Islands Adventure is a excellent way to see the isolated beaches and the mazes of mangrove islands of this unique area in the Everglades National Park. This adventure begins at the historic Smallwood Store on the small island community of Chokoloskee. We start out paddling on Chokoloskee Bay and within 10 minutes are tucked into the heart of the 10,000 mangrove islands.  Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, wading birds, jumping fish, sea turtles, jumping manta rays, white pelicans, and much more!  We will paddle out to one of our favorite isolated beaches where we will stop, relax, and eat a delicous lunch. After lunch, join your naturalist guide for a beach walk to learn about intertidal beach creatures and plant life.  We will then wait for the tide to turn in our favor and paddle back using the tide as a propeller. FYI, the tides on this trip can be strong. We will be paddling in open water and be exposed to winds in some areas; this trip can only be done if the right conditions exist.  With that being said, this trip is a great way to see the tropical side of the Everglades and is why this is one of the top places to paddle in the world! Are you staying for a few days in the Everglades Glades? If you enjoy kayaking, then consider paddling both of our full day trips, the mangrove tunnel tour and the 10,000 Islands kayaking tour, while on vacation: paddle right through the heart of the Everglades and out to the Gulf of Mexico.

Our 10,000 Islands sunset trips meet at the Historic Smallwood Store located in the fishing town of Chokoloskee Island. Our guests gear up for trips on a tiny beach where the Seminole Indians once traded Ted Smallwood alligator hides and raccoon pelts. Our adventure 10,000 island Adventure starts by launching our kayaks into Chokoloskee Bay and make are way thru the maze of the Everglades National Park 10,000 island. On this adventure we will keep our eyes out for dolphins swimming, turtles coming up for a breath, jumping fish, wading birds, a possible manatee sticking its nose up for a quick breath of air and much more. Southwest Florida sunsets are some of the most amazing in the world, especially from the seat of your own kayak with good friends. At certain times of the year we will paddle near a rookery and watch the birds fly in for the night.
